My God, how wonderful You are…
How majestic, how holy, how utterly beyond my comprehension.
You are clothed in light, dwelling in unapproachable glory (1 Timothy 6:16),
and yet You stoop low to hear my cry.
“The Lord is high above all nations, and His glory above the heavens!
O God, how terrible it would be if You were only mighty—
but You are also merciful.
You are tender as a Father, strong as a Rock,
gentle as a Shepherd who carries the lamb close to His heart (Isaiah 40:11).
I have no words worthy of You,
yet still, You invite me to call You Abba Father.
“As a father shows compassion to his children,
My heart trembles at Your holiness,
yet it finds rest in Your love.
For Your mercy reaches to the heavens,
and Your faithfulness stretches to the skies (Psalm 36:5).
You do not treat me as my sins deserve.
You invite me in, robe me in righteousness,
and call me beloved.
O Lord, how can it be?
“My God, how wonderful Thou art,
And still, You beckon me to come.
But Lord, I confess—
There are days when You feel far.
There are nights when I drown in silence,
and wonder if my prayers even touch Heaven.
My spirit groans, too broken for words (Romans 8:26),
yet I cling to the hope that even groans rise as incense before You.
You collect every tear in Your bottle (Psalm 56:8),
and You never forsake Your own.
You are my refuge when the storm rages,
my anchor when I drift,
my joy when the night lingers too long.
O God, how I long to love You more—
to fear You rightly, not with dread, but with awe.
With trembling wonder that the King of the Universe
would know my name.
“My God, how wonderful Thou art,
When I see You face to face, Lord—
not through a veil, not through tears—
I will fall before You in worship.
But until then,
Let me walk in Your light,
rest in Your mercy,
and live for Your glory.
“One thing have I asked of the Lord…
You are wonderful, my God.
My heart bows low and lifts its eyes high.
In awe, in longing, in love,
I whisper and I shout—
My God… how wonderful You are.
Amen
