A Prayer of Righteousness and Strength (Inspired by Spurgeon's Own Hymn Book and Scripture)
O Sovereign Lord, Blessed are those who walk in Your ways, who shun the counsel of the wicked and refuse to stand in the paths of sinners (Psalm 1:1). Make my heart steadfast, that I may delight in Your law and meditate on it day and night (Psalm 1:2). Let Your Word be my guide, a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path (Psalm 119:105).
Plant me, O Lord, by the streams of Your living water, that I may never wither, but grow strong in faith and bear the fruits of holiness (Jeremiah 17:7-8). Shelter me from the storms of life, and let not the winds of this world shake my trust in You. May my life be an ever-green testimony of Your goodness, shining with the righteousness of Christ (John 15:5).
Lord, let me not walk in the way of the wicked, whose hopes are as fleeting as the chaff that the wind drives away (Psalm 1:4). Keep me from vain pursuits and empty desires, that I may fix my eyes on eternity, where You will separate the righteous from the unjust (Matthew 25:31-34). Grant me the grace to stand firm in the day of judgment, clothed in the righteousness of Christ, and counted among the saints in glory (Revelation 3:5).
Father, You watch over the path of the righteous, and Your heart delights in those who follow Your ways (Psalm 37:23). Keep my steps from wandering into the snares of the wicked, for the broad road leads only to destruction (Matthew 7:13). But Your path is straight, Your burden light, and Your promises sure (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Lead me, O Lord, in the way everlasting. Let my life glorify You, and may I dwell in Your presence forever.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, my Redeemer and King, I pray. Amen.
