Judges 15 – The God Who Gives Strength to the Weary
Prayer
Lord God,
You are the Strength of the fainthearted,
the Power that sustains the servant when his arms grow weak.
When Samson stood surrounded by betrayal and battle,
You alone remained faithful.
The men of Judah handed him to his enemies,
yet Your Spirit still rested upon him.
With nothing but a jawbone in his hand,
You turned humiliation into triumph,
defeat into deliverance.
You are the God who gives strength to the weary
who meets us when others abandon us,
and fights through us when we have nothing left.
You are the God who makes weakness mighty.
Samson was bound and led by his own countrymen,
yet when Your Spirit came upon him,
the ropes melted like flax in flame.
What bound him could not hold him,
because You were with him.
So too, Lord, break the cords that bind my courage.
Free me from the fear of men,
from the weariness of repeated struggle.
Let Your Spirit burn through every restraint
that keeps me from obeying You fully.
When I stand in places where strength is scarce
and hope seems thin,
be my power,
my portion,
my perseverance.
You are the God who brings victory through unlikely means.
A jawbone of a donkey so common, so unworthy
became the weapon of Your wonder.
Through it, You reminded Israel
that salvation does not come through steel or strategy,
but through the hand of the Lord.
You use what the world discards
to shame what the world exalts.
Lord, use me likewise.
If my life is only a simple tool,
let it still strike with purpose.
If my words are but few,
let them still carry fire.
If my hands are empty,
fill them with faith enough to move mountains.
You are the God who refreshes the faint.
After the battle, Samson cried out
parched, alone, and near death.
He feared that his victory would end in thirst.
But You, O Lord, split the hollow place
and made water flow from it.
You turned exhaustion into renewal,
despair into delight.
So too, Lord, refresh my spirit when it falters.
When the fight leaves me weary,
open the hollow places in my heart
and let living water flow again.
Remind me that the One who gave strength for battle
will also give grace for endurance.
You are the God who remembers the weary servant.
You did not scold Samson for his exhaustion
You supplied him with refreshment.
For You know that even the strong grow tired,
and even the faithful grow faint.
Thank You, Lord, that You meet me there
not with condemnation,
but with compassion.
You are my living spring,
my rest after the battle,
my strength in the struggle.
You are the God who gives strength to the weary,
who brings water from the rock
and renewal from ruin.
When I feel forgotten,
remind me that You still see.
When I feel spent,
remind me that Your Spirit still empowers.
When I feel alone,
remind me that Your presence still abides.
For Your strength is made perfect in weakness,
and Your victory shines brightest in surrender.
In the name of Jesus,
the Living Water and the Strength of the redeemed,
Amen.
