Lord God,
You are the Faithful One
the same yesterday, today, and forever.
You go before Your people and remain behind them,
the Shield that surrounds,
the Shepherd who leads.
You spoke to Moses at the edge of the promised land,
and to Joshua at the threshold of new leadership
“Be strong and courageous,
for the Lord your God Himself goes with you.
He will never leave you nor forsake you.”
What You promised then, You still promise now.
You are the God who goes before and stands faithful.
You never ask Your servants to walk alone.
You were with Moses when his strength failed,
with Joshua when his courage wavered,
with Israel when their faith faltered.
Your presence is not a reward for perfection
it is the assurance of grace.
Wherever You call, You accompany.
Whatever You command, You empower.
I confess, Lord,
that I often face tomorrow with trembling.
I measure my weakness more than Your strength.
I fear the change, the unknown, the leaving behind.
Forgive me for doubting that You are already where I am going.
Teach me to see that every transition is sacred,
because You are constant within it.
You are not bound to a mountain or a man,
a method or a moment
Your faithfulness endures from generation to generation.
You told Moses that his time was ending,
that Joshua would lead the people across the Jordan.
Even in the handover, You showed grace
You raise new leaders,
but Your mission remains the same.
So, Lord, give me a heart that releases with peace
and receives with humility.
Let me celebrate Your work in others
without fear of losing my place in Your plan.
Help me to remember that every servant fades,
but the Lord remains.
You commanded that Your law be read aloud every seven years
that men, women, and children, and even the foreigner within the gates
might hear and learn to fear the Lord.
Your Word was never meant to be hidden or hoarded.
It was to fill the air of the camp,
the hearts of the people,
and the memory of every child.
So fill my home, Lord,
with the sound of Your Word.
Let Scripture be my anchor and my anthem.
Let the reading of it renew my courage,
and the living of it reveal Your glory.
You told Moses to write a song
a witness that would testify of Israel’s unfaithfulness
and Your unwavering love.
Even in warning, You wove redemption.
For though Your people would forget,
the song would remain.
So write such a song in me, Lord.
Let my life sing of Your mercy through every season
in triumph and in trial,
in leadership and in loss.
Let every verse of my days
declare that the Lord has been faithful.
You are the God who goes before and stands faithful.
You lead Your people into promise,
and yet never leave those who remain behind.
You walk with the strong and the stumbling alike.
You keep covenant when we forget it,
and You remain near when we wander far.
So, Lord, go before me into what is next.
Stand behind me as my guard,
beside me as my companion,
within me as my strength.
When I grow weary, remind me that You do not faint.
When I grow fearful, whisper again Your ancient promise
“I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Let that truth be the courage that carries me.
And when my song falters,
let me rest in Yours
for You, O Lord,
are the Song of the Redeemed,
the Faithful God who finishes what He begins,
and who stands unshaken through every change.
In the name of Jesus,
the Captain who goes before us,
and the Presence that never departs,
Amen.
