Lord God,
You are the Way Maker,
the One who parts the impossible.
When the Jordan overflowed its banks,
You called Your people to step forward anyway.
You did not wait for dry ground before You spoke
You spoke so that the ground would dry.
Your presence in the Ark led the way,
and every drop that threatened to drown them
stood still at Your command.
You are the God who goes before His people.
The priests carried Your covenant on their shoulders,
and when their feet touched the water,
the miracle began.
You made a road through the river,
a highway of faith across the flood.
You turned fear into testimony,
and the barrier into a bridge.
I confess, Lord,
that I often want proof before obedience.
I want to see the waters part
before I dare to step in.
Forgive me for mistaking caution for faith,
and hesitation for wisdom.
You have never failed me,
yet I still pause at the banks of trust.
Teach me, O Lord,
that faith always steps first.
Let me believe that Your Word is as solid
as the riverbed beneath those priests’ feet.
You go before me,
carrying the covenant of grace.
You stand in the flood while I cross over dry.
You hold back what should drown me,
and invite me to walk where only Your presence can sustain.
The same God who parted the Jordan
still parts the chaos within me.
The same hand that steadied the priests
still steadies my trembling heart.
So today, Lord,
I will step forward.
Not because the path looks safe,
but because You are there.
You dwell in the middle of what I fear.
You do not promise ease,
but You promise Yourself.
And where You are,
every river becomes a road.
Make me brave to walk behind You,
trusting that the God who goes before
also guards behind.
Let the soles of my faith touch the water
and the miracle follow.
Let my obedience be the dam
that holds back doubt for others.
And when I reach the other side,
let me remember Who made the crossing possible.
You are the God who goes before us
the Presence that leads,
the Power that saves,
the Promise that stands firm in the flood.
You do not lead Your people to the water to watch them sink;
You lead them there to show Your glory.
So I will rise,
shoulder the covenant,
and step where You command.
Because You are faithful,
and the river will part.
In the name of Jesus,
the Greater Joshua,
who crossed the river of death before us
and made a way to everlasting life,
Amen.
