1 Samuel 3 – The God Who Still Speaks

Prayer

Lord God,
You are the God who speaks
when Your people are listening.
In days when Your word was rare
and visions infrequent,
You called a child by name.
Not a priest hardened by compromise.
Not a leader grown comfortable in silence.
But a boy whose heart was still teachable.

You are the God who calls persistently.
Samuel did not recognize Your voice at first.
He mistook revelation for routine.
Yet You did not withdraw.
You called again.
And again.
And again.
You are patient with those learning to hear You.

Lord, I confess how easily I confuse
Your voice with noise, habit, or expectation.
Forgive me when I assume silence
means absence.
Teach me to slow down,
to listen attentively,
to say, “Speak, Lord,
for Your servant is listening.”

You are the God who speaks truth,
even when it is hard.
The message You gave Samuel
was not gentle comfort,
but sobering judgment.
You showed that listening to You
means bearing truth,
not just receiving blessing.
Obedience requires courage.

Lord, prepare my heart
to receive Your word honestly.
Not just the words that affirm me,
but the words that correct me.
Give me the courage to obey
even when obedience costs.

You are the God who establishes Your word.
Not one of Your promises falls to the ground.
You confirmed Samuel as Your prophet
and restored Your voice to the nation.
When You speak,
history shifts.

Speak again, O God.
Speak to Your Church.
Speak to leaders, families, and hearts grown dull.
Call us back to reverence.
Call us back to obedience.
Call us back to listening.

You are the God who still speaks.
Make me attentive.
Make me obedient.
Make me faithful
to carry what You say.

Amen.
