Faithful Guide,
You are the God who goes before
before the journey begins,
before the words are spoken,
before the request is even formed.
Abraham’s servant prayed,
not aloud,
not with fanfare
but in his heart.
And You answered.
Lord, teach me to pray like that.
Simple.
Sincere.
Expectant.
He had a task too great for him
to find a wife for the promised son,
from a distant people,
with no guarantee.
But he didn’t scheme he surrendered.
He knelt beside a well
and trusted that You,
the God of Abraham,
would show the way.
I confess, Lord
when the task is unclear,
when the path is long,
when the outcome feels too fragile
I often default to control.
I try to make it happen
instead of asking You to lead.
But You were already there.
You had already sent Rebekah.
Before he finished praying,
You were answering.
God, remind me
Your provision isn’t delayed.
It’s precise.
It meets me not on my timeline,
but in Your perfect design.
You are the God
who orchestrates water jars and kind words,
timing and tenderness,
family and faith
all for the unfolding of Your covenant story.
Let me walk like that servant
with worship on my lips,
humility in my posture,
and trust in every step.
When the answer comes,
let me say like he did,
“Blessed be the Lord… who has not forsaken His steadfast love and His faithfulness.”
When I share what You’ve done,
let me tell it with reverence.
Let me declare that Your hand has led me,
that Your mercy has not failed me.
Rebekah ran in faith.
She said yes without seeing the future.
She left her homeland
to be part of a promise
she could not yet touch.
Make me like her too
willing,
trusting,
bold enough to say,
“I will go.”
You are the God of quiet prayers
and clear answers.
The God of the long journey
and the sudden moment.
The God who writes love stories
not just for people,
but for Your people.
So I go forward in faith
step by step,
prayer by prayer,
trusting You to lead
before I even finish speaking.
In the name of Jesus,
the greater Bridegroom,
who comes for His bride in love and power
Amen.
