Lord God,
You are the Divine Portion Giver,
the One who measures boundaries with wisdom
and assigns inheritance with intention.
When the final tribes received their allotments,
the work was complete
each family, each clan, each name
resting beneath the shadow of Your sovereignty.
You marked every hill, every valley,
every well and city and plain,
with perfect care.
There was nothing random,
nothing leftover,
nothing forgotten.
You are the God who assigns every portion with purpose.

You remembered even Joshua,
Your servant who had led the charge.
After everyone else received their inheritance,
he asked for Timnath serah
the land he had seen, walked, and trusted You for.
And You gave it to him.
How fitting that the leader who fought for others
would finally rest in the land of his own faithfulness.
For You, O Lord, never forget the servant’s reward.

You are the God who writes order into inheritance.
Where man sees mere geography,
You see story.
Where we see divisions,
You see destiny.
Each portion fits the calling of its people,
and each boundary holds a lesson in trust.
You are the same today
assigning seasons, places, and purposes
to every one of Your children with care.

I confess, Lord,
that I sometimes envy the portion of others.
I look at their blessings, their opportunities, their reach
and wonder why my boundaries feel small.
Forgive me for measuring worth by width.
Forgive me for forgetting that the Giver determines the grace,
and that every portion, large or small,
is sacred when received with thanksgiving.
Teach me to tend my lot with diligence,
to see beauty in the field You’ve given me,
to live content in the land of Your choosing.

You are wise in every assignment.
Nothing in my life is misplaced.
No boundary is accidental.
Even the limits are mercy,
and every gift is guidance.
You know what I can carry,
and You give enough to keep me dependent on You.
My inheritance is not in land or position,
but in Your presence.
The Lord Himself is my portion forever.

So today, Lord,
I will praise You for the lines that fall in pleasant places.
I will rejoice in the path You’ve drawn for me.
Let my heart rest secure,
not striving for more,
but stewarding well what You’ve assigned.
Let my service be steady,
my gratitude full,
my joy unmoved.
For if You chose it,
it is good.

You are the God who assigns every portion with purpose
faithful to remember,
careful to provide,
sovereign in every detail.
You gave Joshua rest at last,
and You will give rest to all who walk in obedience.
Teach me to be faithful in my field,
grateful in my place,
and satisfied in my portion.

In the name of Jesus,
the Greater Joshua,
who has gone to prepare our eternal inheritance,
Amen.
