Lord God,
You are the God of perfect balance
justice without cruelty,
mercy without compromise.
You judge with righteousness and truth,
weighing every heart on the scales of holiness.
You do not show partiality,
and yet You delight to show compassion.
Your throne is established on righteousness,
but it is surrounded by grace.
You commanded Israel that punishment must fit the crime,
that no man should be humiliated beyond what is just.
You are not like the rulers of this world,
whose anger exceeds fairness,
whose vengeance forgets mercy.
You are the God who tempers justice with dignity,
who protects even the guilty from cruelty.
I confess, Lord,
that my heart too often leans toward imbalance.
When I am wronged, I crave retribution.
When I am guilty, I beg for lenience.
Forgive me, Lord, for the hypocrisy that wants mercy for me
but judgment for others.
Teach me to love justice as You love it
not to destroy, but to restore.
Let truth and compassion kiss in all my dealings.
You commanded that a brother’s name not be blotted out from Israel,
that the next of kin should redeem his line and raise up offspring in his place.
You care even for legacy,
for the continuation of love through family and faith.
You are the Redeemer who will not let a name vanish into dust.
And in that command, I see Christ
my Brother and Redeemer,
who took on my debt and raised up life in my name.
He would not let me remain forgotten.
He bore the shame that belonged to me,
and wrote my name in His book of life.
You commanded fairness in trade,
honest weights and measures,
for You detest dishonesty hidden beneath success.
Lord, how deeply You care for truth in the smallest things!
Teach me to be upright in all I handle
to deal fairly in words, in work, in worship.
Let integrity be the measure of my worth,
and honesty the weight by which I live.
Expose every deceitful scale within me,
and replace it with Your justice.
You warned Israel to remember Amalek
the enemy who struck from behind,
attacking the weary and faint.
You promised to blot out his memory
because he preyed on the weak.
O God, You are not blind to cruelty.
You remember the deeds done in darkness
and will one day make all things right.
So teach me to protect the weary,
to defend the weak,
and to stand between the vulnerable and the oppressor.
Let me never be found on the side of Amalek,
but always on Yours.
You are the God who judges with righteousness
and measures with mercy.
You defend fairness in the market,
honor in the home,
and truth in the heart.
You see every act of deceit,
and every quiet deed of faithfulness.
Nothing escapes Your eye,
and nothing done for love of You will be lost.
So weigh me, Lord
not against others,
but against Your Word.
Find no false measure within me.
Let integrity mark my days
and grace govern my judgments.
Make me merciful in truth and truthful in mercy,
for in both You are glorified.
You are my righteous Judge,
my faithful Redeemer,
the One who remembers the forgotten
and restores what has been broken.
Let my life bear witness to the balance of Your heart
a justice that heals,
a mercy that endures,
a righteousness that stands forever.
In the name of Jesus,
the Perfect Judge and Merciful Redeemer,
Amen.
