Lord of covenant,
after judgment fell,
after rebellion was exposed,
You spoke again of offerings,
of flour and oil,
of wine poured out,
of pleasing aromas that rise to heaven.
Even in the shadow of failure,
You spoke of worship.
Even in the face of sin,
You made a way for fellowship.
O God, how kind You are.
You do not abandon Your people
when they stumble.
You do not silence Your Word
when we fail.
Instead You remind us
that mercy still has a place,
that sacrifice still covers,
that You still long to dwell with us.
Let me not run from You in shame,
but draw near in worship,
bringing Christ as my offering,
His blood as my atonement,
His life as my fragrance before You.
You spoke, too, of unintentional sin,
of atonement for the things unseen,
the things done in ignorance.
Lord, how many sins do I commit
without even knowing?
How many careless words,
how many loveless thoughts,
how many selfish motives
pass through me unnoticed?
Yet none are unnoticed by You.
Cover even these in Your mercy.
Let Christ’s cross stretch wide enough
to catch what I cannot confess,
to cleanse what I cannot name.
But You also warned of the high hand,
the deliberate defiance,
the heart that sins with clenched fists.
Such a soul is cut off,
for pride cannot dwell in Your presence.
Lord, keep me from such hardness.
Break me before I break myself.
Bend my knees in repentance
before I stand in rebellion.
Give me a heart quick to yield,
quick to turn,
quick to cry for grace.
And You gave them tassels
blue cords on the edges of their garments,
daily reminders to remember You,
to keep Your commandments,
to be holy as You are holy.
Lord, tie such cords to my life.
Bind reminders to my days,
markers that point me back to You.
When I rise,
when I walk,
when I lie down,
let there be signs that say,
“Remember the Lord.”
Father, make my life a garment
stitched with remembrance.
Let every thought be a thread,
every action a tassel,
every word a woven testimony
that I am Yours.
And when my eyes wander,
draw them back by Your Spirit
to the blue cord of covenant love,
to the blood stained cross of Christ.
In His name I pray,
my offering,
my covering,
my reminder,
Amen.
