Lord of sovereignty,
Balak trembled at Israel’s presence,
fearing not their swords
but their blessing.
He sought a prophet for hire,
a man to curse what You had chosen to bless.
But no bribe, no king’s gold,
no earthly fear
can undo what You have spoken.

O God, remind me of this truth
what You bless cannot be cursed.
No weapon formed against me shall prosper,
no curse spoken over me can stand.
I am Yours,
sealed by Your covenant,
covered by the blood of Christ.
Let me live in the freedom of that blessing,
without fear of the voices raised against me.

Balaam, greedy for gain,
set out on his donkey,
his heart divided,
his eyes blind.
Yet even a beast of burden
saw what the prophet could not
the angel of the Lord,
sword drawn,
standing in the way.
How humbling, Lord,
that a dumb animal was wiser than the seer.

Father, open my eyes.
Keep me from spiritual blindness.
Let me see where You stand in my path.
If You block the road,
teach me to stop.
If You confront me with sword in hand,
teach me to bow.
Save me from the stubbornness
that strikes at what You are using to protect me.
Make me humble enough to learn
from the least,
the lowly,
even from the voice of a donkey
if it speaks Your truth.

You told Balaam plainly
speak only what I tell you.
Not for money,
not for power,
not for favor with men.
Lord, let this be true of me.
Let my lips be governed by Your Word.
Silence every false motive,
purify every hidden agenda,
until all that remains is obedience.
Better to speak one true word in Your name
than a thousand flatteries in mine.

So today, Lord,
guard my path,
govern my words,
guide my eyes.
Let me not be seduced by reward,
nor blinded by pride,
nor deaf to Your command.
But let me walk humbly,
speak faithfully,
and live under the blessing
that cannot be undone.

In the name of Jesus,
the Word made flesh,
the final and faithful Prophet,
Amen.
