O Lord, our Maker and our King,
We come not with confidence in ourselves, but with contrite hearts, drawn by Your mercy.
We worship You, O God, for You are our refuge and our portion in the land of the living (Psalm 142:5). You have taught us to fear the paths of the wicked and to despise the seat of the scoffer. We do not lift our souls to falsehood nor swear deceitfully (Psalm 24:4). Instead, we long to dwell in Your tent forever and take refuge under the shelter of Your wings (Psalm 61:4).
Your Word is our treasure, more desirable than gold, even much refined gold. Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb (Psalm 19:10). We set our delight in Your statutes. Your testimonies are our counselors (Psalm 119:24).
Day and night, we seek Your ways. In the watches of the night, we remember Your Name, O Lord, and keep Your law (Psalm 119:55). Plant us like trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that You may be glorified (Isaiah 61:3). Let us not be moved by the winds of wickedness, but be established in Your courts, flourishing like palm trees (Psalm 92:13).
Let the fruit of holiness blossom from our lives, as clusters of grapes in a fertile vineyard. May our lives show justice and mercy, like streams that never run dry (Amos 5:24). May our speech be seasoned with salt (Colossians 4:6), our hearts ruled by peace (Colossians 3:15), and our steps ordered by Your Word (Psalm 119:133).
For the wicked are like the waves of the sea, casting up mire and dirt (Isaiah 57:20). Their end is destruction, their gods are their appetites (Philippians 3:19). But You, O Lord, are righteous in all Your ways and kind in all Your works (Psalm 145:17). We do not stand in judgment, but we stand in awe.
When You number Your saints, remember us, O Lord, when You show favor to Your people (Psalm 106:4). May we be counted among those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life (Revelation 21:27). You have searched us and known us. You discern our thoughts from afar (Psalm 139:2). Lead us in the everlasting way (Psalm 139:24). Keep our feet from every evil path so that we might obey Your Word (Psalm 119:101).
We worship You, O Lord, our Rock, Redeemer, Righteousness. May our lives bring You glory, our fruit bear witness to Your Spirit, and our steps stay fixed upon the way that leads to life.
In the name of Jesus Christ, our Living Vine and Coming King,
Amen.
