Lord God,
You are the Commander of Promise and Purpose,
the Voice that breaks the silence after loss,
the One who speaks courage into trembling hearts.
Moses is gone but You remain.
You speak again into the ache of transition,
reminding Your people that the mission continues,
that Your word still stands,
and that Your presence has not departed.
You said to Joshua, “My servant Moses is dead;
now therefore arise.”
What holy simplicity
what divine resolve in those few words.
You do not allow grief to erase calling,
nor fear to smother faith.
You command what feels impossible
“Arise” and then You make it possible
because You go with us.
I confess, Lord,
that I often linger too long in the valley of yesterday.
I cling to what was instead of stepping into what is.
I measure myself against the shadows of others
and forget that You have called me to this Jordan.
Forgive me, God,
for doubting Your ability to use ordinary faithfulness
to accomplish extraordinary things.
Forgive me for trusting my strength more than Your Spirit.
You told Joshua,
“Be strong and courageous,
for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
That promise echoes still.
Strength does not come from certainty,
but from companionship
from knowing You will not leave nor forsake.
So when fear whispers that I’m not enough,
teach me to answer with Your word.
When the waters rise before me,
let my faith step forward first.
When the walls seem too high,
let me remember Jericho has already fallen in Your plan.
Lord, let me meditate on Your Word day and night,
not as ritual, but as breath.
Let it fill my heart until obedience becomes instinct.
Let courage be more than a moment it be my posture.
Let success not be measured by crowds or conquest,
but by quiet fidelity to Your voice.
You are the God who crosses rivers with His people,
who turns promise into possession.
You go before, behind, and beside.
You lift tired hands and steady trembling knees.
You turn wandering servants into bold leaders.
So make me strong, Lord
not in pride, but in purpose.
Not in the flesh, but in faith.
Not in confidence of outcome,
but in assurance of Your nearness.
As Joshua carried the Ark of Your covenant forward,
let me carry Your presence into every battle.
Let Your word shape every step I take.
Let my leadership, my witness, my worship
reflect the One who never fails.
And when I stand on the edge of what’s next
when I feel the weight of the unknown
let me hear Your voice again
“Be strong and courageous.”
Not because I am able,
but because You are.
Not because I see the path,
but because You lead it.
Not because the land is easy,
but because the promise is sure.
You are the God who parts Jordans,
who keeps covenants,
who never forsakes His people.
You call us to arise, to go, to trust.
And so I rise, Lord
not in my power, but in Your promise.
The God who began the journey in Moses
will complete it through Joshua
and through every heart that believes.
Make me strong, make me faithful,
make me courageous
until faith becomes sight,
and the land You have promised
lies beneath my feet at last.
In the name of Jesus,
the Greater Joshua,
who leads us into rest,
Amen.
