1 Samuel 23 – The God Who Guides the Faithful
Prayer
Lord God,
You are the God who guides those
who seek You sincerely.
David rescued Keilah in obedience,
yet still paused to ask You
what came next.
Even after doing what was right,
he knew he still needed Your voice.
You are the God who speaks truthfully,
not conveniently.
You warned David
that the people he saved
would betray him.
Your guidance was not comforting,
but it was protecting.
You did not flatter him with ease;
You guarded him with truth.
Lord, teach me to seek You
not only when danger is obvious,
but even after success.
Deliver me from assuming
that good intentions guarantee safe outcomes.
Train my heart to ask You first,
and to trust You
even when Your answer disrupts my plans.
You are the God who sees ahead
when I cannot.
You know which doors will close,
which loyalties will fail,
and which steps will lead to harm.
Your counsel is not meant to confuse me,
but to preserve me.
Lead me step by step, O God.
Give me ears that listen,
a heart that obeys,
and courage to move
even when the path requires retreat.
I trust You to guide me
where safety and faithfulness meet.
You are the God who guides the faithful.
So I follow
not boldly,
but dependently
one step at a time.
Amen.
