God of my fathers,
God of Isaac and Abraham,
You are the same yesterday,
today,
and forever.
But You meet each generation
in fresh places of fear
and personal obedience.

There was famine in the land
and Isaac had a choice.
To run where food seemed sure,
or stay where Your voice was clear.

You told him,
“Do not go down to Egypt dwell in the land I will be with you.”
And he stayed.

Lord, help me stay
when it would be easier to run.
Help me obey
when logic says otherwise.
Let me trust not what I see,
but who You are.

You repeated the covenant
the same promise You gave Abraham
land, blessing, offspring, nations.
But this time, You gave it to Isaac.
Not just inherited
but confirmed.
Personal.

Lord, I long to hear You like that.
Not just through stories of others,
but in my own soul.
Make the faith of my fathers
a fire in my own bones.

But Isaac feared just like Abraham did.
He called Rebekah his sister.
The old lie returned.
The old fear still lived in the new generation.

Lord, I confess
I’ve inherited more than faith.
I’ve repeated patterns I swore I’d break.
I’ve let fear write my words,
even after You wrote my promise.

Still, You protected him.
Still, You blessed him.
You multiplied his crops a hundredfold.
You made him great
not because he was flawless,
but because You are faithful.

He dug wells.
Old ones.
New ones.
Some were stopped up,
some were fought over,
some were finally left in peace.

Lord, help me dig again.
Help me clear out what has been buried
truth, joy, prayer, legacy.
Let me not give up at opposition.
Let me press forward until there is room,
until there is Rehoboth
“broad space.”

You appeared again.
“Fear not, for I am with you…”
And Isaac built an altar.
He worshiped before he settled.
He pitched his tent beside the altar,
because Your presence was more precious than prosperity.

Make that true for me.
Let my home be built around the altar.
Let my family drink from wells of peace.
Let my days be marked by surrender,
not striving.

You are the God
who blesses in famine,
who stays through fear,
who remembers covenant,
and renews it in every generation.

In the name of Jesus,
the wellspring of living water,
in whom all promises are yes and amen
Amen.
