Lord God,
You are the Rewarder of the steadfast,
the Keeper of promises long remembered.
When Caleb came before Joshua,
he was eighty five years old
his hair silvered, but his faith unaged.
He had waited forty-five years
for the inheritance You swore to him through Moses.
While others doubted,
he had believed.
While others wandered,
he had held fast to Your word.
And now, standing before the mountain of promise,
he declared with courage still burning,
“Give me this hill country.”
You are the God who honors unwavering faith.
You do not forget the trust of those who cling to Your word
through decades of delay and deserts of disappointment.
You remember the whispers of faith
spoken when the crowd said otherwise.
You remember the quiet obedience
when others chose comfort.
You crown endurance with fulfillment.
The land waited for Caleb
because You made the promise wait for faith to mature.
I confess, Lord,
that I tire of waiting.
I want promise without patience,
inheritance without perseverance.
Forgive me for growing restless
when Your timing feels long.
Forgive me for letting cynicism whisper
that faith was wasted.
Teach me to believe like Caleb
that delay does not mean denial,
and that faith still speaks boldly
even when the body grows weak.
You are the God who strengthens those who trust You.
At eighty five, Caleb was as strong as he had been at forty,
because courage does not age in hearts anchored to Your word.
You gave him the mountain others feared
the land of giants
because giants fall before faithful hearts.
You proved that faithfulness outlasts fear,
and that long obedience still wins battles.
Lord, give me my mountain.
Give me courage to claim what You’ve promised,
even when it looks too steep or too late.
Let my confidence rest not in my strength,
but in Your unchanging word.
Make me steadfast when others shrink back.
Let me live to see Your promises fulfilled,
but even if not, let me die still believing.
You are the God who honors unwavering faith.
You do not overlook those who trust You quietly,
who keep walking while others quit.
You record their faith like a seed,
and in due time, You let it bear fruit.
You are faithful from the wilderness to the hill country,
from the first promise to its last breath.
So let me serve You with that same resolve.
Let me love You with Caleb’s endurance,
trust You with his boldness,
and claim my inheritance with his joy.
Make my faith outlast my years,
and my obedience echo in generations to come.
You are worthy of lifelong trust, Lord.
And when my mountain comes into view,
let my heart still say,
“Give me this hill country,”
for You are faithful to the end.
In the name of Jesus,
the Greater Joshua,
who fulfills every promise of God in Himself,
Amen.
