God of Every Season,
You lead us through famine and fullness,
foreign lands and familiar griefs.
You provide bread when we see only barrenness.
You plant legacy in lands we never planned to enter.

Jacob stood before Pharaoh
an old man,
a wandering shepherd,
bowing before the ruler of the greatest empire on earth.

And yet he blessed him.

Lord, how beautiful.
How powerful.
That a weary pilgrim
could speak a word of eternal weight
over a throne of temporal glory.

You honor faith, not fame.
You exalt the humble
and remind us that the smallest voices,
when filled with You,
can carry the power to bless kings.

Joseph was no longer the dreamer in chains.
He was the steward of Egypt’s grain,
the answer to its hunger,
the reason nations survived.

But he never forgot his people.

He gave them land in Goshen
the best of the land.
He sustained them,
settled them,
and preserved the promise
through wisdom and kindness.

Lord, when You raise me up,
let me be like Joseph
not just successful,
but sacrificial.
Not just favored,
but faithful to bless others.

As the famine grew harsher,
Joseph navigated with discernment.
He exchanged livestock, then land,
but always with dignity
preserving lives, not just wealth.

God, grant me wisdom
to lead in crisis
with justice and compassion.
To care not only for my own
but for the weary who come with nothing.

And Jacob
he felt his days folding.
“Few and evil,” he said,
but even in sorrow,
he still believed.

He made Joseph swear
“Do not bury me here… carry me back.”

Because he knew
this land was provision,
but not promise.
Egypt could sustain them,
but it could never define them.

Lord, give me that kind of vision.
To be grateful for provision,
but never lose sight of home.
To live as a sojourner,
trusting that the best is yet to come.

You are the God
of green pastures in foreign places.
The God who feeds Your people
through unexpected means.
The God who blesses kings through shepherds,
and shepherds through sons.

So I thank You
for every place You’ve led me,
for every table You’ve set,
for every season You’ve sustained.

And I trust You still
because I’m not home yet.

In the name of Jesus,
our greater Joseph,
who prepares a better country
and will carry us all the way there
Amen.
