O Lord our God, We fall on our knees before Your throne. You are high and lifted up, and the train of Your robe fills the temple (Isaiah 6:1). The whole earth is full of Your glory. The heavens declare Your majesty. Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty; the whole earth is full of His glory! (Isaiah 6:3)
We cry out with the angels and saints “Holy is the Lord God Almighty; the earth is filled with His glory!” We lift our hands, we bow our hearts for You alone are worthy. You are robed in splendor and wrapped in light. You dwell in unapproachable glory, yet You stoop low to hear the cries of the broken. You are the God who sees, the God who saves, the God who sanctifies.
“Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in His holy place?” Only those with clean hands and a pure heart (Psalm 24:3–4), and yet O Lord we come as sinners in need of grace. We have unclean lips, and we live among a people of unclean lips, and our eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts (Isaiah 6:5).
But praise be to the Lamb! You have touched our lips with fire from the altar. You have declared us clean by the blood of Christ. You have not dealt with us according to our sins, but as far as the east is from the west, so far have You removed our transgressions from us (Psalm 103:10–12).
We tremble in Your holiness for Your justice is pure, Your righteousness like the mighty mountains, Your faithfulness stretches to the skies (Psalm 36:5–6). You are the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).
We stand and lift up our hands, for the joy of the Lord is our strength. We bow down and worship Him now how great, how awesome is He. We join with the earth, with the heavens, with the sea, and all that fills them “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!” (Psalm 150:6)
O Holy God, Search me and know me. Try me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting (Psalm 139:23–24).
Consume in me what is unholy. Break every idol, tear down every proud thought. Bend my will until it bows in joyful surrender to Yours. Make me holy as You are holy (1 Peter 1:15–16). Let my life echo Your holiness in word, in thought, in love, and in truth.
And until that day when I join the everlasting song and fall before Your throne in white robes, crying, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!” (Revelation 4:8), keep me in awe, keep me in love, keep me close.
In Jesus’ holy name,
Amen.
