Heavenly Father,

You who sit enthroned above the circle of the earth, who stretches out the heavens like a curtain (Isaiah 40:22), we pause in awe of Your greatness.

What must You think of us? We, the dust You formed into living souls, still rebel, still grasp at control, still ignore Your still small voice. You speak softly, faithfully, warning us away from evil, but our hearts often grow dull. Forgive us, Lord.

We see You all around us. In the blue sky that proclaims Your handiwork (Psalm 19:1), in the roar of waves that obey Your command (Jeremiah 5:22), in the cry of a newborn declaring life You have given, in the teenager who helps the older woman with no expectation of reward.

Your fingerprints are everywhere. We see You in the church body when it moves in compassion, when it weeps with the broken, when it feeds the hungry and loves without hesitation.

We see You in the mother who prays in secret, trusting that her labor in prayer is not in vain (Galatians 4:19). We see You in the voice of a child who dares to sing “Jesus loves me” aloud, not knowing that angels pause to listen (Matthew 21:16). We see You in the weary pastor who lays his soul bare before You, interceding for every life You have entrusted to him (Hebrews 13:17).

You are in the birds of the morning, whose songs greet the dawn with praise before the world stirs (Job 38:7). You are in the sacrifice of police officers who shield others from harm, in soldiers who rise to defend freedom, laying down their lives like Christ laid down His for us (John 15:13).

O Lord, teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom (Psalm 90:12). Make us not wise in our own eyes, but trembling before Your holiness (Proverbs 3:7). Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up (Galatians 6:9).

Let Your voice thunder in our silence, and whisper in our chaos. Awaken Your people, revive Your church, and draw us to Yourself again and again.

In the name of Jesus, our Shepherd, our Savior, and our Soon-Coming King
