God Most High,
Possessor of heaven and earth,
You are the One who defends the righteous
and gives victory not by might,
but by Your hand alone.
When the kings of the earth waged war,
when kingdoms rose and fell by blood and pride,
You were not absent.
You watched.
You remembered.
And You acted.
Lot was taken
dragged into the consequences of his compromise.
Yet You stirred Abram,
a man of peace,
to rise and fight with honor.
Lord, make me that kind of person.
One who does not love conflict,
but does not run from rescue.
One who doesn’t seek war,
but shows up when justice calls.
Give me courage like Abram
to gather the faithful,
to move with purpose,
to fight not for revenge but for redemption.
Let me be willing to step into danger
if it means restoring the lost.
And when the victory comes
let me not boast.
Let me not claim power or credit or gain.
Let my hands be lifted not in pride,
but in praise.
Abram gave a tenth.
To Melchizedek priest of God Most High.
A king without lineage.
A shadow of something greater.
He offered his tithe not as tax,
but as worship.
A declaration that the battle belonged to You.
Lord, teach me to release what I could keep
and give what the world would hold tight.
To respond to victory not with greed,
but with generosity.
Then came the king of Sodom
offering reward,
a subtle string of self glory.
But Abram refused.
He would not be made rich by sin’s spoils.
He would not allow anyone to say,
“I made Abram great.”
Only You deserve that glory.
Help me to refuse the easy reward
if it comes with spiritual compromise.
To say no when saying yes would mean
selling my soul for comfort.
You are the God who blesses in secret,
who sees in battle and in tithe,
in refusal and in faith.
Blessed be Your name,
O God Most High
Deliverer, Sustainer, Defender,
the One who lifts the humble
and silences the boastful.
In the name of Jesus,
our eternal High Priest,
after the order of Melchizedek
Amen.
