God of Generations,
You speak through the lips of the dying,
reminding the living
that every life echoes forward.

Jacob, worn and weathered,
called his sons close.
Not to scold,
not to flatter,
but to bless and to name.

Each son heard words that pierced
or promises that lifted.
Not all were easy
but all were true.

Lord, give me the courage
to speak like that
not to impress,
but to impart.

He named what was hidden
Reuben’s instability,
Simeon and Levi’s rage.
He saw the past plainly,
but not without hope.

Because You are the God
who tells the truth about our brokenness
so You can redeem it fully.

To Judah, Jacob spoke greatness
“The scepter shall not depart from Judah”

A lion.
A ruler.
A promise of kings.

Lord, this was no accident.
You were pointing forward
to the One who would come
the Lion of the tribe of Judah,
Jesus, the true King.

You always plant the seed of redemption
in the least expected place.

He blessed Zebulun with expansion,
Issachar with burdens,
Dan with justice,
Naphtali with beauty,
Joseph with fruitfulness,
Benjamin with fierce strength.

Every word a mirror.
Every blessing a map.

Lord, help me live in the truth You speak over me
even when it cuts.
Let my story be named,
so You can shape my legacy.

Let me not fear prophecy,
but welcome it.
Let me not run from what is spoken,
but let it refine me.

Because You are not just the God of promises,
but the God of fulfillment.
You don’t just point out our flaws
You carve new futures through grace.

Jacob blessed them all
each one
as he leaned on his staff,
as his last breath approached.

And then he said,
“Bury me with my fathers.”

He died,
not afraid,
but gathered to his people.

Lord, may I live with that kind of faith
honest, bold, forward looking.
And may I die like Jacob
eyes fixed on the promise,
mouth full of blessing,
heart at peace.

You are the God
who speaks through generations,
who tells us who we are,
and who leads us into what we are becoming.

In the name of Jesus,
the Lion of Judah,
the Shepherd of our souls,
the Fulfillment of every blessing
Amen.
