1 Kings 5 – The God Who Builds Through Peace
Prayer:
Lord God,
You are the God who prepares long before we see the work begin.
In David’s days there was war on every side,
but in Solomon’s days You gave rest.
Peace was not accidental
it was providential.
You appointed the season of conflict,
and You appointed the season of construction.
Nothing in Your plan is wasted.
You are the God who builds through peace.
When the sword was finally sheathed,
the temple could rise.
The house built for Your Name
was born not out of chaos,
but out of the calm You ordained.
Teach me to recognize the seasons You give.
When You grant peace,
let me not grow idle
but attentive to the assignments that peace makes possible.
You are the God who uses willing hands,
even beyond the borders of Your covenant people.
Hiram of Tyre supplied cedar and craftsmen,
and the work moved forward through cooperation and skill.
You are Lord over all nations,
and You use whom You will
to accomplish Your purposes.
Give me humility to receive help,
wisdom to work with others,
and discernment to see Your hand at work
even through unexpected partnerships.
You are the God who values preparation.
Stones were cut and shaped away from the temple site
so that no hammer or chisel would be heard
when the house rose.
You do deep, unseen work
before public glory appears.
Shape me in hidden places, O Lord.
Chisel pride,
smooth roughness,
fit me for Your dwelling
before I ever stand in visible service.
Let my life be like those stones
prepared in quiet obedience
so that when You place me where You will,
I will fit into Your purpose
without noise or resistance.
For You, O Lord,
are the God who builds through peace,
who prepares in silence,
and whose plans unfold in perfect time.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
