1 Samuel 6 – The God Who Reveals His Glory

Prayer

Lord God,
You are the God who makes Your glory unmistakable.
The Philistines sent the ark away
with guilt offerings and fear,
hoping chance not You
had caused their suffering.
So You removed every excuse.
You guided the cart.
You directed the cattle.
You made it clear
this was no accident.

You are the God who reveals Himself
to those who resist believing.
Even when hearts doubt,
You leave no question unanswered.
You showed that Your hand
had been heavy upon them,
not by chaos,
but by precision.

Lord, forgive me
for attributing Your work
to coincidence.
For explaining away Your intervention
when it challenges my comfort.
Teach me to recognize Your hand
and respond with humility.

You are the God who demands reverence.
When the ark returned,
some looked inside
with curiosity instead of fear.
And judgment followed.
You reminded Your people
that familiarity never replaces holiness.
You are near,
but never common.

Lord, restore holy fear in me.
Teach me to rejoice in Your nearness
without losing awe.
Let worship be joyful
and trembling.
Intimate,
yet reverent.

You are the God who returns glory
on Your terms.
The ark arrived where You willed,
when You willed,
without Israel’s help.
You remain sovereign
even when Your people falter.

Help me trust Your power, O God.
Let my worship reflect Your holiness.
And let my life honor
the glory You reveal.

Amen.
